Hitcollector

Hitcollector is a kind of www server that has been written by Gemius. Tags refers to hitcollector. Data gathered by hitcollector are sent to Gemius Data Center where all data processing is being done.

Some of big publishers may want to have their own hitcollector to which tags refers. In such a case please contact Gemius to discuss details.

The most probable requirements for hitcollector server:

  • the Intel Xeon or Intel Core 2 Duo (2Ghz) processor,

  • at least HDD 80 GB (can be RAID 1),

  • at least 1 GB RAM,

  • a good network card - 1 Gbit Ethernet (Intel/3COM),

  • 6 external IP addresses,

  • the system: FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE + the system's sources + ports,

  • partitioning - the best method is the easiest one - partitioning everything into "/". In case you would like any other type of partitioning, it is necessary to give as much space as possible to '/home' (at least 75% of the whole disc space),

  • we recommend rack-mount servers.

After installing Free BSD, the following is necessary for Gemius: 6 IP addresses, hitcol & root password and it should be possible to log on by SSH. Gemius task would be to install remotely a hitcollector software and configure the system.

After the installation publisher takes care of the hardware and the internet connection, Gemius takes care of the software.

Client in tags starts to refer to his own machine.
